The other day I was out shopping with my mother-in-law and while I was browsing at the book store I came across this one particular book that stood out to me for multiple reasons.
Here are a few reasons it stood out to me:
- It was purple, my favorite color.
- The spine of the book said Treasured Moments.
- The back was my favorite scripture from the Bible.
First reason is obvious, I like the color purple…a lot. Second reason, this is the part of the book that was sticking out and stood out to me. Well also you see through experiences in my life I have learned you should really treasure every moment because unexpected things can happen in no time (That’s a story for another day). Third reason, I went to read the back of the book to get a summary and what did I find, my favorite scripture in the Bible:
“Trust in the Lord with all you heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
Needless to say I just couldn’t put that book back on the shelf no matter how hard I tried. As I was reading this book before I went to bed tonight there were some things that stood out to me that I thought I would share:
Get Prepared and Stay Prepared:
This particular part was talking about being tested by the Lord. It says: “Because we go through times of testing , the Lord has graciously given us a shield of protection. I am thankful for his precious promise.” “Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” James 1:3 (Treasured Moments with Mother Graham by Rose Adams with Danna Lee Toney).
It was great and inspirational for me to read this tonight because in 3 months from yesterday my friend and I are leaving on a mission trip/big trip, like a once in a lifetime trip, God willing. To me this just meant prepare yourself and remember God is in charge and will protect you if this trip is his will. It was a great reminder for me because this trip is definitely me stepping out of my comfort zone, but I really feel it is God’s will. On another day I will talk more about our trip and another day maybe about how else this particular study tonight touched me. Thank you God for showing me that book and to the Authors for writing it.
Well off to bed for me. Have a goodnight!
I love reading your thoughts and am so excited to see all of the things God has in store for you on this adventure.
